Autism Spectrum Disorder Information
The Central East Regional Planning Committee has developed this site to disseminate information to the public regarding services available to individuals with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and their families
- Community agencies Contract with the Ministry of Community and Social Services to provide a range of services for individuals with a diagnosis of autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Many of these agencies and services provide support to individuals with ASD along with individuals with other intellectual disabilities. The spectrum of services includes :
- In-home and out-of-home respite;
- Intensive Behavioural Intervention;
- Specialized community supports which assist people to be more independent in their community including The Passport Initiative, providing people diagnosed with a developmental disability or ASD, with exposure to a wide range of activities such as work, volunteer, leisure and recreation opportunities.
- Residential options. Options range from group homes and supported independent living to specialized accommodation for individuals with a developmental disability who also have a mental health issue and/or challenging behaviour.
