Service Planning in Durham Region

  • Durham Systems Management Committee

The Durham Systems Management Committee (DSMC) collectively provides leadership and strategic direction in overseeing the effectiveness of the services in Durham region in responding to community needs. This will be accomplished by:

    1) Resource Management:
The Durham Systems Management Committee will provide leadership and collaborate to ensure effective management of the current resources and programs operated by developmental service organizations in Durham.

This will include identifying and responding to operational issues, partnering with one another and with MCSS on solutions, assessing ongoing service delivery challenges and working together to manage the collective resources represented at the table.

    2) New Initiatives Management:
The Durham Systems Management Committee will provide consultation, planning and advice with respect to the implementation of all new or emerging developmental services and supports in the Region of Durham. The group will manage the review of proposals regarding new services and offer priorized recommendations to MCSS regarding resource allocation.

    3) Support Central East Regional Planning:
The Durham Systems Management Committee will also play a meaningful role in supporting the larger Central East Regional DS Planning Committee. This will be achieved by ensuring that Durham has well-informed representation at this table, contributes to and influence decisions made at this level, identifies local planning trends for consideration and is fully aligned with the overall regional process.
